X Japan

X was formed by Yoshiki and a school friend, Toshi in '82. By the time hide joined X in '87, X had released their first single, "I'll Kill You" from '85. In February of 1987, X had its formations ready to go, Yoshiki on drums, piano, flute, etc., Toshi on vocals, hide and Pata on guitar, and Taiji on bass.

X wasn't very successful working during the day and performing in the night, but when they didn't get signed, Yoshiki started his own record label called Xtasy Records, and signed X. After that the group soon found fame. But by their third album, Taiji dropped out. Around this time hide decided to start his solo career.

After Taiji's drop out, X decided to change their name to "X Japan", because some people were getting them mixed up with another band called "X". When Heath joined as their new bassist, the band went on hitaitus so they could prolong the wait of their fourth album.

After five years, X Japan decided to release their album "DAHLIA" and go on tour. Soon after the tour, X Japan decided to disband and hold a last live concert, which was called, "The Last Live". It was a goodbye with tears shed from fans all over, saying goodbye to their beloved heros. hide even shed a few tears during the concert. Although it wasn't their very last performance together. After The Last Live, X Japan performed in the "Kouhaku" event. It turns out that hide and Yoshiki planned on getting X Japan back together in the year 2002, without Toshi who had joined a cult with his wife, and left his music career. (Toshi actually did go back to being a musician, and left the cult.) But we know what happened to hide.

After the seperation, Heath and Pata both joined a band called Dope Headz playing the same instruments. Toshi is playing mostly for fundraising and charity events. And Yoshiki finally re-emerged with his new group, Violet UK.
